It’s officially holiday season—and we’re ready to get full-out festive with a winter-themed playlist, and a selection of Holiday Specials that the whole family can snuggle up to watch! 

This also means it’s almost time to wrap-up 2022, so we’re taking the opportunity to reflect on the year and unwrap some of this year’s highlights. 

We're delighted to say it was a year filled with memorable milestones and magical moments, like the launch of incredible new shows: Eureka!, Rosie’s Rules, Sago Mini Friends, and StoryBots: Answer Time! 

In March of this year, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the premiere of Doc McStuffins on Disney Junior, a series which is near and dear to our hearts. The show which broke ratings records and became the No.1 preschool show on U.S. television when it first aired in 2012, continued on to span five epic seasons and even inspired the “We Are Doc McStuffins” medical movement. In commemoration of Doc's wonderful 10th anniversary milestone, Disney Junior shared this special music video for Walt Disney Records’ digital single “The Doc Is 10!” performed by Laya DeLeon Hayes. 

Later on in September, we were so excited to celebrate 10 Grr-ific years of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood along with Fred Rogers Productions and PBS. Enjoyed by children and parents alike, the beloved show, which is produced by 9 Story Media Group in partnership with Fred Rogers Productions and animated by Brown Bag Films Toronto, has won 15+ awards, including an Emmy for Best Preschool Children’s Animation Series and 6 Parent’s Choice Gold awards. Its 125+ episodes have also been streamed over 3.3 Billion times!

To celebrate, 10 Years of Tiger Tunes was released on all digital platforms, a collection of songs including never-before-released tracks from the series.

We also saw new season drops of Ada Twist, Scientist, Ridley Jones, Karma’s World and Get Rolling with Otis. It has been an absolute joy to share these shows with the world and we’re so proud of the stunning artwork our teams continue to create!

We were thrilled to see a flurry of award nods this year for Brown Bag Films and our parent company, 9 Story Media Group. Karma’s World was honoured with a BANFF Rockie Award and Ridley Jones picked up two Kidscreen Awards. Ada Twist, Scientist had an epic year, scooping up an Annie Award, Doll of the Year, and the Outstanding Preschool Animated Series award at the first-ever Children’s & Family Emmy® Awards! And newly launched Rosie’s Rules and Sago Mini Friends both received the Common Sense Selection for Families seal of approval. And 2023 is already shaping up nicely with our productions, Get Rolling with Otis, Ada Twist, Scientist, and Karma’s World having tallied up nominations in the upcoming Kidscreen Awards! 

After a challenging two years in the virtual realm, we were very excited to see the return of in-person events with our Brown Bag Films Dublin team taking part in the Galway Film Fleadh, the Aldi Community Games, and The Irish Times Higher Options. The Brown Bag Films dodgeball team in Toronto bounced back into action with the return of the YMA Charity Ball Brawl. And of course, we resurrected Spooky Season across all our Brown Bag Films locations, showcasing some fab-boo-lous costumes.

2022 closes with another amazing achievement — Brown Bag Films and 9 Story Media Group have been voted NUMBER ONE on the Kidscreen Hot50 Production list for the second year in a row! Our 9 Story family was also voted number one in the Hot50 Distribution category and placed number 5 on both the Digital Media and Licensing lists.

Finally, a huge shout out to our 9 Story family, who also reached an incredible milestone this year, kicking off their 20th Anniversary celebrations in September. Congratulations to 9 Story on two amazing decades of creating characters and content that inspire kids around the world. We love being on this wonderful journey together!
