Netflix Launches Netflix Playground App, Horton! Season 2 Returns and New Show Young MacDonald Announced
Netflix recently announced a major update to its children’s slate, including new preschool programming, returning fan‑favourite series and the launch of Netflix Playground, a brand‑new interactive app designed for young audiences.
New shows as part of its kids and preschool slate expansion include Young MacDonald, which is being animated by our Brown Bag Films Dublin and Bali studios. The new musical series follows the optimistic and playful grandson of Old MacDonald and his animal friends as they solve problems, and learn about farm life. Young MacDonald is created and showrun by Gabrielle Meyer (Dr. Seuss’s Horton!, Ada Twist, Scientist, Ridley Jones), executive produced by Darragh O’Connell (Octonauts, Chico Bon Bon) and story edited by Becky Friedman (Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood). This addition to their line-up is part of a slate of new shows designed to encourage creativity and problem-solving through relatable, fun-filled storytelling.
The platform has also announced the release dates of parent and kid favorites including Dr. Seuss’s Horton! Season 2 which is arriving on May 4. The series, a vibrant reimagining of the beloved elephant, brings Horton to life in a fresh, playful way—following the exciting and whimsical adventures of a young Horton and his best bud Samson as they help the citizens of the Jungle of Nool. The vibrant CG-animated series, which premiered on Netflix on October 6, 2025, is directed by Shane Collins, executive-produced and developed by Dustin Ferrer and Becky Friedman, with Ferrer also serving as showrunner with animation services by our Dublin and Bali studios.

The launch of Netflix Playground, a games app, offers kids a new way to play and explore with their favorite characters. Designed for children ages eight and under, Netflix Playground is included with all memberships, with no ads, in-app purchases or extra fees.
Parents and carers can download the app to a smartphone or tablet and sign in to their Netflix account to access an ever-growing library of games for kids featuring familiar faces including Dr. Seuss’s Horton! and The Sneetches.
