Super Why's Comic Book Adventures is a vibrant 2D animated series of shorts designed to boost early literacy skills in preschool and kindergarten-aged children. Inspired by the Emmy® Award-nominated Super WHY! series that first premiered in 2007, this new chapter brings a fresh comic book twist to the beloved educational franchise.
In these exciting new adventures, Super Why teams up with Power Paige—the newest Super Reader—to tackle literacy villains and story anomalies in the colorful world of Reader Valley. Each short immerses young viewers in a stylized comic book universe, where literacy-powered superheroes use reading skills to save the day. Featuring catchy original songs and engaging storytelling, the series breaks down essential early reading concepts in a fun and accessible way.
The series, which is produced by 9 Story Media Group and animated by our Brown Bag Films Toronto studio is directed by Geri Bertolo. The voice cast features Jayd Deroché as Super Why, Delia Lisette Chambers as Power Paige, Willa Scace as Wonder Red and Tajja Isen reprising her role as Princess Pea.
Super Why's Comic Book Adventures debuted with a pilot episode on September 20, 2023, and officially premiered on October 18, 2023, on PBS KIDS.
