Sadie Sparks
Streaming on Disney+
In this supernatural sitcom Sadie is a typical fourteen-year-old girl whose life becomes anything but typical when she finds out she’s actually a wizard. Okay, technically, a wizard-in-training. She is assigned a magical mentor to guide and train her in the form of Gilbert—a very old and grumpy rabbit.
Sadie thinks having magical powers is very cool, but nobody had told her about the small print. High school is all-consuming enough without magic studies! However in each other, this odd couple have found the perfect magical match.
Sadie Sparks is a co-production between our Dublin studio and Parisian company Cyber Group Studios and aimed for kids ages 6 to 11.
Created and directed by Bronagh O’Hanlon, alongside a writing team led by Rebecca Hobbs, the series follows the adventures of Sadie, a 14-year-old girl with magical powers, who must juggle high school life with her new role as a wizard-in-training. To harness her volatile abilities, she receives mentorship from Gilbert, a very old and very grumpy rabbit sent to the human CGI-animated world from a magical 2D-animated realm.
The all-star UK voice cast features The Evermoor Chronicles‘ Georgia Lock as Sadie, and comedian Rufus Hound (Argumental, Celebrity Juice) as her cranky rabbit wizard mentor, Gilbert, alongside Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel-Horwood as snobbish snake Cornelius, Dominique Moore (Footballer's Wives) as Sadie's best friend Lulu, Joshua LeClair (Pitch Battle) as B movie-obsessed Teepee, Sammy Moore (The Evermoor Chronicles) as boy-next-door Sam and Tyger Drew-Honey (Outnumbered), who plays wannabe wizard, Blaine. Completing the cast are Morwenna Banks, Laura Aikman, Dan Renton Skinner and Rufus Jones.
The series premiered on Disney Channel UK in April 2019, and subsequently on Disney+ in June 2021.
