Celebrate World Music Day with Let’s Go Luna #Playlist

Happy World Music Day!

“World Day of Music or Fête de la Musique, celebrated each June 21, was first started in France but today highlights music’s universal appeal. It’s meant to make music more inclusive and encourage people of varying skill levels to interact a lot more with all types of tunes.”

We thought who better to celebrate with, than our friends from Let’s Go Luna! The series follows the hilarious adventures of three friends – Leo, a wombat from Australia; Carmen, a butterfly from Mexico; and Andy, a frog from the U.S. – as they traverse the globe with their parents’ traveling performance troupe, “Circo Fabuloso.”

At each of the Circo’s stops, their trusted guide Luna the moon, leads Leo, Carmen and Andy as they experience the local language, music and daily life of the world around them.

Our specially curated World Music Day playlist follows Carmen, Leo, Andy and Luna as they travel and sing all around the world!

France – Mon Amour!

The first stop is Paris, in France where World Music Day first began! Luna learns how to enjoy leisure time like the French, while Honey the Hamster sings about love or “amour.”

England – English Food!

Next is London, England, where Carmen, Leo and Andy learn about all the different names of foods in England. Did you know that crisps in England are called chips in North America?

Turkey – Turkish Delight!

Next stop, Istanbul, Turkey! In this song, the friends learn how to make Turkish Delight, a dessert native to Turkey. They also visit the miniature version of the Hagia Sophia, a famous building in Istanbul, where Andy learns to be patient and see things from a different point of view.

Thailand – Who’s Behind the Mask?

In this song, the friends visit a mask shop in Bangkok, Thailand and Leo also faces his fears and tries Durian, nature’s stinkiest fruit!

China – Drums of China!

In Beijing China, the group learns all about the history and importance of Chinese percussion instruments like gongs, bells and drums.

USA – Alaska!

Join the friends as they explore the ice caves of Alaska, the coldest American state! Luna encourages the kids to keep going when they face challenges and we learn about how the Tlingit people use storytelling to keep their culture alive.

Peru – Welcome to Machu Picchu!

Sing along with Andy, Carmen, Leo, Luna and their friend Señor Fabuloso as they climb Machu Picchu and later, watch Carmen plays the charango, a traditional Peruvian instrument, at a music festival in Cusco, Peru.

Australia – Didgeridoo-doo!

Our last stop on this journey is Australia! Luna and friends get help from some termites to construct the perfect digeridoo, a traditional Australian instrument made from a eucalyptus tree. Carmen also competes in a boomerang throwing contest with her new friend Finn the Frog!
