June 5th is World Environment Day!

This year, the United Nations is promoting the #OnlyOneEarth campaign for World Environment Day 2022, encouraging us all to look at how we interact with our environment. We need to focus on finding ways to be kind to our planet, so that we can heal it, rather than harm it. 

The human mind knows no boundaries. But our planet does. There is #OnlyOneEarth and protecting it is a global challenge and responsibility. We have less than ten years to make real change, so we need to scale up our action for the planet. We have the solutions, knowledge and technology to limit climate change and avoid ecological collapse.

In search of some kid friendly resources to help your little ones learn more about our planet and how we can celebrate World Environment Day? We've compiled a selection of resources to get you started!

DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD

Join Daniel Tiger, from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, as he explores nature and shows us just how amazing our Earth is! 

During his adventure, Daniel watches a bird build its nest, imagines what the inside of an ant hill could look like, and learns all about plants with O the Owl.

Daniel’s neighbors, Lukawu and Evie, show us ways to enjoy nature in a fun and environmentally friendly way! Lukawu and his family play soccer in the park and watch the sunset together, while Evie goes on a nature walk.

WILD KRATTS

Join the Kratt brothers from Wild Kratts as they show us the amazing animals that our Earth has to offer! 

Chris and Martin meet giraffes, dolphins, hares and hawks, and teach us all about them! The most important thing for the brothers is to make sure that these animals are safe, a goal that we should all share. 

XAVIER RIDDLE AND THE SECRET MUSEUM

Join the Xavier, Yadina and Brad from Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum as they learn to take care of the earth with George Washington Carver! 

George Washington Carver teaches the kids why it's so important to take care of the Earth. George explains how reusing things is a great way to help protect the Earth and the beauty of plants and the crucial role they play on our planet.

So, what can we do to help protect our beautiful Earth? It’s way easier than you think.

Here are some ideas to get started:

- Turn off the tap while you’re brushing your teeth to save water.

- Turn off the lights in rooms that are not being used.

- Remember to recycle paper and plastics instead of just throwing them away in the garbage.

- Use a reusable water bottle instead of buying plastic bottles.

- Donate old toys and clothes instead of throwing them away.

- Join a community clean-up.

- Use the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
