Great news! Our Dublin studio 2D Design Supervisor Lynne Guthrie will be giving a workshop for aspiring young animators as part of the Nenagh Children's Film Festival.
Nenagh Children’s Film Festival, now in it’s third year, is 3 days of films, workshops and Q&A’s curated for young audiences and their families. Programmed as part of Cruinniú na nÓg, Irelands national day of free creativity for children and young people. Established to support Film and Filmmakers who create work for young audiences, the festival is supported by Nenagh Arts Centre, Creative Ireland and Tipperary County Council.
Lynne will run through the basics of what a 2D Designer does in animation, how to gather research, and finally walk participants through how to design a character for an animated series or film.
The workshop is free and designed for kids aged 6+ years, and will be taking place virtually on Saturday, 11th June at 3pm.
“Hi I'm Lynne, a Design Supervisor working at Brown Bag Films Dublin studio on animated Disney and Netflix shows!
In this video, I will walk you through the process of how I design characters for animated shows and short films.
To make it more personal, you can draw yourself as the character if you like. You can even chose whether you want to be a superhero, pirate captain… or dressed in a chicken suit for the school play!
What you will need:
- A pencil or pen
- A sheet of paper
- An eraser
- Colouring pencils/crayons/markers (optional)
- A digital drawing app (if you have one and prefer this)
Hope you enjoy creating with me and I look forward to seeing your name in movie credits in the future!”
