Celebrate and Learn About the Value of Our Oceans on World Oceans Day!

June 8th is World Oceans Day!

Did you know our oceans cover 70% of the Earth? This important part of our biosphere is a major source of oxygen, food and some of the coolest animals on the planet!

The ocean connects, sustains, and supports us all—but its health is at a tipping point. As the past years have shown us, we need to work together to create a new balance with the ocean that no longer depletes its bounty but instead restores its vibrancy and brings it new life.

We believe in teaching young kids about the importance and value of our planet and its natural resources, and helping to encourage them to take action to protect and care for it. Like our friends the Octonauts always say: “Explore, Rescue, Protect!

Looking for some kid friendly resources to help your little ones learn more about just how amazing our oceans are? We have curated a selection of content sure to spark their curiosity and ignite their passion for protecting our precious oceans. Dive in with us!

XAVIER RIDDLE AND THE SECRET MUSEUM

Explore the ocean floors and find sea cucumbers, salmon, kelp, and more with Xavier, Yadina, Brad, and Rachel Carson!

Rachel Carson is an American marine biologist, author, and conservationist whose writings are credited with advancing the global environmental movement.

“It is a curious situation that the sea, from which life first arose should now be threatened by the activities of one form of that life. But the sea, though changed in a sinister way, will continue to exist; the threat is rather to life itself.”

—Rachel Carson

WILD KRATTS

To discover some of the oceans cool creatures, join our favorite adventurers, the Kratt Brothers from Wild Kratts as they explore the depths of the oceans.

Join the Wild Kratts crew as they meet orcas, crabs, sharks and more under the sea, while also teaching us all about how these unique ecosystems work.

Did you know that there are 'cleaner fish' that act as dentists for sharks? Or that fish near the bottom of the ocean floor use bioluminescence to glow in the dark? Learn all about these special creatures with the Wild Kratts!

OCTONAUTS

The ocean is also full of mysteries! Come and learn with the Octonauts as they dive deep and explore the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the ocean, and uncover the unique animals that live there.

Join the team as they help a group of deep-sea creatures on a mission to find a new hydrothermal vent to call home while Shellington and Dashi conduct research in the new Octo-Lab and discover new animals!

DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD

Finally, who better to enjoy some playtime with about the ocean than our favorite neighbor, Daniel Tiger from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood

In the song “Swimming in the Deep Blue Sea,” Daniel uses make believe to swim with the fish in the deep blue sea!
