In October 2015, Siobhan Doyle, Brown Bag Film’s Head of Character Assets, set out on a mission to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society through cosplay and costuming. Her goal was to raise €1000, while sharing her journey to craft and transform herself into Mad Max: Fury Road’s awesome heroine - Furiosa. 

In the end, her fundraising efforts far exceeded her original goal, raising over €6500 in total. And as part of her final transformation, she cut her hair to emulate Furiosa’s short hairstyle, and donated her ponytail to Irelands’ Heartfelt Hair program, which takes long hair and creates wigs to help people deal with illness-related hair loss.

Siobhan documented her DIY journey on our Brown Bag Labs and her DIY Furiosa remains one of the most EPIC costumes to grace our studio walls. 

We are throwing back to her Cosplay for Cancer journey today.
