It’s a Wrap on Nella the Princess Knight Season 2!

Our work on Nella the Princess Knight Season 2 has come to an end and to celebrate our Manchester studio hosted a Nella themed Wrap Party at Lock 91!

The talented production team organised the party which included a sparkly dance floor, popcorn, candy floss, and Nella-themed decorations!

During the celebrations, we caught up with some of the Nella the Princess Knight team to see how they felt after completing 40 episodes! Check out what they had to say below:

Giedre Kaveckaite, Art Director on Nella the Princess Knight

Hello! I'm Giedre Kaveckaite and I'm the Art Director on Nella the Princess Knight ✨

What was your highlight of Season 2?

Most definitely updating the style and bringing everything up a notch! We tried out more dramatic lighting, pushed visual language and really tried to tie it in with the story. Not to mention we got to design some fabulous new characters such as Tricksy and Riley and, of course, the star of this season - the Clubhouse.

What was the biggest hurdle of Season 2?

I honestly struggle to remember any significant hurdles!  'Nella in Bowing Land' episode definitely stretched our imaginations, but I think the team really learned from the first season and came together with ideas and creative solutions for the second one. Nothing was too hard or impossible.

If you were a character in Nella the Princess Knight who would you be and why?

Tricksy! I think I might have accidentally designed her castle as my dream home - sparkly and far away from civilization…

Looking back what are you most proud of working on Nella the Princess Knight?

Definitely the incredibly talented and hard-working team of artists, directors, and production! Everyone brought such great ideas, creativity and were an absolute pleasure to work with! I think the end product really speaks for itself.

Bill Gordon, Episodic Director on Nella the Princess Knight Season 2

Hi, I'm Bill Gordon and I was the Episodic Director on Nella the Princess Knight Season 2.

What was your highlight of Season 2?

There were two highlights for me. The first was the Nella the Princess Knight special “The Unicorn Rescue”. The story was great and the team did such an amazing job. It's something I'm really proud of.

The second highlight was the winter episode. It has my favourite line of dialogue from the series in it. It's Blaine saying, “Blah, blah, blah, I'm not listening. I'm leading!”

That episode also has Badalf singing the “Winter Winter” song. Which is excellent.

If you were a character in Nella the Princess Knight who would you be and why?

I'd probably want to be Riley. She's a cool and cocky character who gets herself into trouble because she thinks she's awesome at everything. I think that sums up my personality pretty closely ;)

Looking back what are you most proud of working on Nella the Princess Knight?

I'm most proud of how the team came together on Season 2, everyone pulled together and people really rose to the occasion. We set really high expectations and each team rose to the challenge.

Hi I am Gili Dolev, Series Director on Nella the Princess Knight Season 2.

What was your highlight of Season 2?

Completion of the Nella the Princess Knight special “The Unicorn Rescue” which set the tone and style for season 2. It was a great story which gave us an opportunity to push the look, direction, and animation to a new level for the show.

The Nella the Princess Knight Emmy nomination was another very proud movement.

What was the biggest hurdle of Season 2?

Making the show feel fresh and exciting after producing 80 episodes in season 1. With the new characters, locations, and themes introduced in Season 2, the new season was even more exciting in the end.

If you were a character in Nella the Princess Knight who would you be and why?

Aunt Winnie. Like her, team mostly saw me as a “hologram” on Google Hangouts :-)

Looking back what are you most proud of working on Nella the Princess Knight?

The great teamwork that went into producing 120 exciting episodes!
