Nella the Princess Knight is a brand-new animated preschool series for Nickelodeon that follows the adventures of Nella, an unconventional 8-year-old who possesses the royal qualities of a princess, like compassion and grace, while also embodying the courage and determination of a brave knight. Whenever a problem arises, Nella embarks on daring quests to save her kingdom through her unique ability to transform from a princess into Nella the Princess Knight.
Nella is a confident 8-year-old princess who likes dancing at extravagant balls just as much as she likes meeting fire-breathing dragons. She transcends traditional roles and expectations through her ability to transform into Nella the Princess Knight, protecting her kingdom with the help of her friends: Trinket, Nella’s glamorous unicorn and best friend; Sir Garrett, a loyal and adventurous knight; and Clod, Garrett’s trusty steed.
The series launched on Nick Jr on February 6th 2017 and has been greenlit for a second season.
The second season of Nella the Princess-Knight promises to bring even bigger and bolder adventures to Princess Nella’s far-off kingdom. Having spread her message of courage and compassion across Castlehaven, Nella makes exciting new friends in her second season. Uniting a brave team of knights and nobles, Nella leads a growing band of friends dedicated to standing up for what’s right. True to herself — and her oath to fight for what’s right and put a stop to what’s not — Nella doesn’t fight like the creaky ole’ knights of yore. Instead, she vanquishes enemies by turning foes into friends, challenging expectations and breaking down barriers wherever she finds them.
Season Two delves deeper into who Nella is and her backstory. We discover more about her royal lineage — as well as the long line of gallant and glittery knights she hails from. It turns out that Nella may not be the first knight in her family who loves jousting as much as jewelry. And though she’s already a great knight, Nella continues to learn the secrets of her powerful knightly tools. She discovers the origins of the enchanted heart pendant she wears around her neck — how it gives her tools their power; and more importantly, how it’s fueled by her empathy for others. In a magical, medieval world even richer and more dynamic than ever, the show’s multi-layered storytelling promises something for everyone — from the youngest end of the preschool audience to its upper edges; stories with appeal for girls, boys, unicorns and orcs alike.
