International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

A shout out to all the inspiring women in science, throughout history and today, who have worked hard to make advances and discoveries in the field of science that have changed the world!

To all the young and aspiring scientists out there stay curious and keep experimenting just like all those who have come before you!

When you follow your passion you can make great things happen, just like Marie Curie, who became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and is the only person to win Nobel Prizes in two separate sciences: Physics and Chemistry!

Did you know that when Marie Curie was young, girls weren't allowed to enroll in university? But this challenge didn't stop our ambitious scientist, she refused to give up on her dream and found her own secret school, The Flying University, an underground university where she could learn! After she completed her studies she started up her very own lab and went on to make many amazing scientific discoveries! It was hard work, but she never gave up.

To learn more about Marie Curie, check out her facts page on the PBS Learning site. And remember to keep following your dreams, no matter what!
