We've got some amazing news!

The nominees for the 2023 Irish Animation Awards have been announced by Animation Ireland, the trade association for Irish animation studios, and we're delighted to share that we have received 6 nominations across our series' Ada Twist, Scientist and Karma's World.

Ada Twist, Scientist has been nominated in 3 categories! Receiving nominations for Best Animated Preschool Show, Best Art Direction and Design and Best Editing.

Ada Twist, Scientist tells the story of a young girl named Ada Twist who is endlessly curious about the world around her and uses science to solve problems and answer questions.

The show is based on the popular children's book series by Andrea Beaty and David Roberts, developed for TV by executive producer Chris Nee (Laughing Wild), and produced in partnership with Higher Ground Productions, Wonder Worldwide, with animation by us at Brown Bag Films.

The series recently launched its fourth season on Netflix on April 22, with even more science-based adventures for Ada, Rosie and Iggy who are joined by new main character—Benny—and formation of The Green Team, a group of superheroes dedicated to helping the environment!

Our series Karma's World has also been nominated in 3 categories, for Best Animated Kids Series 6+, Best Director of an Animated Series and Best Storyboarding.

Karma’s World, which premiered on Netflix in 2021, is an animated series produced in partnership with 9 Story’s Emmy Award-winning Creative Affairs Group as well as Karma’s World Entertainment, Chris Bridges’s production company, and animated by Brown Bag Films Dublin studio.

The series, created by Alison McDonald and Halcyon Person, follows Karma Grant, an aspiring musical artist and rapper with big talent and an even bigger heart. Smart, resilient, and deeply empathetic, Karma pours her soul into songwriting, channeling her feelings into whip-smart rhymes with passion, courage and her signature brand of humor.

The series launched its fourth season last September, with a slate of new songs and adventures awaiting Karma in Hansberry Heights as she rhymes her way through bigger challenges and shows up for her family, friends and community.

The biennial awards are the premier event in the Irish animation calendar and celebrate the creative brilliance and talent of the Irish animation sector. The ceremony will return in person for the first time since the covid pandemic, taking place in Galway on Saturday, 27th May.
