Tis the season for holiday cheer, and with that also comes a brand new Blue's Clues & You! holiday special! The newest addition to the winter lineup, “A Blue Christmas with You!” sees Blitzen asking Blue and Josh for help finding Santa. The episode also features toy-making fun, reindeer games, and a holiday celebration!

We spoke with Series Director Vadim Kapridov about the special, who said this about the making of the festive episode:

“Christmas cheer is in the air! The Blue's Clues & You! Christmas special may be airing now, in December 2022, but the premise for the episode was penned at the beginning of January of 2021, and the visual part of production - shootboard - started in the heat of summer of 2021! That's how long it takes to get one episode from page to screen! And all this time, working with our amazing and talented team, it truly felt like being amidst the hustle and bustle of Santa's workshop, watching this very special Christmas episode come to life!”

The visuals for this episode are truly magical, with so much thought and heart put into every part of the production. The Blue’s Clues & You! series is produced by the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, CA, along with our 9 Story Media Group family's Creative Affairs division and our Brown Bag Films Toronto studio. The festive scenery the team created for the special truly shines, featuring a wintery version of Blue's house, and even Santa's Workshop!

Mathias Horhager, the Director of the special, attributed his love of animation to animated holiday specials just like this one:

“I practically got into animation because of the influence of those classic animated holiday specials I watched as a kid. Stuff like; A Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph… it's crazy to think that some little boy or girl out there could be influenced by our Blue's holiday special in the same way!”

“A Blue Christmas with You!” invites viewers along with Josh and Blue as they search for Santa and have a ton of fun along the way. The special is full of festive settings and holiday spirit, along with the fun adventure that comes along with every Blue's Clues & You! episode.

Mathias loved working on the special, saying that it gave him more time to enjoy the holiday season:

“I love Christmas and getting a chance to work on this holiday episode for Blue's Clues & You! meant that I got to extend the Christmas season for an extra few months!!”
