Coming Up: Futurescope 2018

FutureScope 2018, Ireland's only event dedicated to supporting all stages of the business innovation lifecycle, is coming up on Thursday, 31st May!

FutureScope brings together leaders from the technology ecosystem to share perspectives on emerging technologies and how they will shape our future world, providing crucial insights to developing businesses, innovators and investors.

The event offers a platform from which to explore collaboration, innovation and business opportunities within the broader ecosystem.

This year Animation Ireland and Animation Skillnet will be organising a room on the theme of Creativity Meets Technology”, at the conference which takes place in the Convention Centre in Dublin.

Some of the biggest names in the Irish and International industry will be participating on the day, including Epic Games (Unreal Engine), The Foundry, JAM Media, Cartoon Saloon, Warducks, 3D4 Medical, Brown Bag Films, StoryToys/TouchPress, Artomatix, Boulder Media, Black Shamrock Games and many more…

There will also be a keynote address from Intellectual Property specialist, Rob Hudnut, who was formally the Head of Mattel’s entertainment division. Today he advises global studios, toy inventors and toy companies on creating franchises that inspire play and creating IP that has a global reach.

Brown Bag Films Creative Director Darragh O'Connell joins Rob Hudnut, Claire Finn of Firecracker Films (former Head of Production at 4Creative), John Reynolds of Jam Media, Gerry Shirren of Cartoon Saloon and Claire McHugh of Axonista to discuss how important it is to develop IP for a global audience and for multiple platforms across multiple media and the impact of changing distribution models such as OTT, VOD etc in the 'IP Development For A Changing Distribution and Consumption Landscape' panel.

Other topics to be explored on the day include:

  • The future of interactive medical education
  • Creative AI for virtual worlds
  • Closing the content gap for VR and AR
  • Real-time production and changing production pipelines

There will also be an Animation and AR/VR showcase area featuring exhibitions, demos and targeted networking.
