Brown Bag at the BAFTAS

This year Brown Bag Films saw two productions nominated for BAFTAs - Doc McStuffins and The Octonauts!

The Octo- and Doc-Teams were all a-flurry with excitement as they ventured off to London for the prestigious award ceremony. Check out some of the pics from the night!

“I was very impressed by the whole BAFTA Children’s Awards experience, particularly with the importance that the British Academy gives to the children’s category! In the US (where I’m from), the Emmy Awards that involve kid’s animation always group our awards in with soap operas, game shows and other “daytime” entertainment, which makes for an odd assortment! At the Bafta’s it felt that the kid audience was getting proper respect! I also admit to not being up to speed on the history and tradition of British Children’s shows and I learned quite a bit both from the current awards presentations and from the honorary or lifetime awards being given. It was great how much team spirit the crew here at Brown Bag has, with a large delegation both inside and outside the awards to cheer us on! And having Chris Nee (Doc McStuffin’s creator and executive producer) in from Los Angeles was great. We didn’t come away with an award - and I think both of our nominated shows were very worthy - but that didn’t dampen the mood much. We were glad to be recognized among other great shows and made up for any disappointment by exuberance on the dance floor!”
- Norton Virgien, Director on Doc McStuffins

“We were so excited to be nominated for the Children’s BAFTA this year – a real team effort! And even though we didn’t walk home with a statue, we definitely won the dance-off at the after-party!” - Theresa Mayer, Producer on Doc McStuffins and Octonauts

We may not have brought home the coveted Bafta trophy but the Brown Baggers still enjoyed themselves. Sadly no photo evidence from the dancefloor has survived. We hope to be back again next year to try again!
