THIS IS GOING TO BE A HOOT!
Apple just announced their stellar spring lineup today, which we're delighted to reveal features our brand new series—Eva the Owlet!
The charming animated kids and family series, inspired by the bestselling book series from Scholastic, will swoop onto screens on Friday, March 31.
Based on the New York Times best-selling Scholastic book series “Owl Diaries” by award-winning author Rebecca Elliott, since first being published the series now has eight foreign language translations and three million copies in print!
Eva the Owlet stars Eva, a creative, cheeky owlet who lives next door to her best friend Lucy in the woodland world of Treetopington. With big ideas and an even bigger personality, Eva goes on high-flying adventures, expressing herself in her journal along the way!
Produced by Scholastic Entertainment with production services and animation by us here at Brown Bag Films, Eva the Owlet also features original songs by critically acclaimed musician and singer-songwriter Fitz of Fitz and the Tantrums.
With a fantastic voice cast to boot, which includes Vivienne Rutherford (”Eureka!”) as the titular character Eva, Jessica DiCicco (”The Loud House,” “Puppy Dog Pals”) as Eva's mom, Dino Andrade (”Ba Da Bean”) as Eva's dad, as well as Sascha Yurchak, Jon Olson, Evie Hsu, Sarah Vattano, Pressly James Crosby, and Kenna Ramsey.
Eva the Owlet is part of Apple TV+ kids’ changemakers initiative that brings world renowned education leaders together with the world’s most creative storytellers to create inspiring and enriching original series for kids. The initiative encourages imagination, self confidence and critical thinking through Apple Original series, with titles to date including Emmy and Peabody Award-winning Stillwater, Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show, Get Rolling with Otis, Pretzel and the Puppies, and many more.
For Eva the Owlet Apple TV+ partnered with the late Dr. John F. Evans, a writing clinician, National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach at Duke Integrative Medicine, and the founder and executive director of Wellness & Writing Connections, LLC who served as the expressive writing expert on the series through Apple TV+’s Changemakers initiative. The series was one of the last significant projects he worked on, hoping to inspire young viewers to write, to find their voices, and to believe in themselves.
Eva the Owlet’s colourful world of Treetopington and splendid cast of characters were “animated” to life in 4K thanks to the brilliant work of our Brown Bag Films Dublin-based production team, all of whom are eagerly anticipating Eva’s big debut! Speaking on behalf of the crew, Series Director Damien O’Connor, Producer Ger Weber and Art Director Kirsten Shiel shared their excitement for the upcoming premiere and hinted at what is certain to be a highly entertaining and playful series for families around the world to enjoy together:
“Eva The Owlet was such a wonderful show to work on. The teams in Dublin and Bali were fantastic and gave it their all (gave it their owl?). Working with Scholastic, Apple and the writers was an absolute joy, everyone came together to make something wonderful, and I could not be prouder of the show.”
—Damien O'Connor, Supervising Director
“Eva The Owlet was a true collaboration. Everyone involved worked together to create a show that is as gorgeous as it is entertaining. Huge thank you to the teams in Dublin and Bali and to everyone at Scholastic and Apple. We cannot wait to show Eva to everyone!”
—Ger Weber, Producer
“Working on Eva The Owlet was a great pleasure from beginning to end. Translating the wonderful illustrations of Rebecca Elliott into a 3D world made working on this show such a rewarding experience. Our team were some of the most talented people I've ever worked with, I can't thank them enough. I can't wait for the world to see Eva!”
—Kirsten Shiel, Art Director
Eva the Owlet is executive produced by Scholastic Entertainment’s Peabody and Daytime Emmy Award-winning team including Iole Lucchese (Clifford the Big Red Dog), Caitlin Friedman (Stillwater), and Jef Kaminsky (Signs of Survival). Head series writers and Daytime Emmy Award nominees Annabeth Bondor-Stone (Helpsters) and Connor White (Helpsters) serve as co-executive producers, and Daytime Emmy Award nominee Damien O’Connor (Angela’s Christmas, Angela’s Christmas 2) serves as supervising director.
The series is produced by award-winning Scholastic Entertainment (Clifford the Big Red Dog, Goosebumps, The Magic School Bus), with production services and 4K animation by 9 Story Media Group’s Emmy-winning and Academy Award-nominated studio Brown Bag Films in Dublin and Bali (Doc McStuffins, Vampirina, Octonauts).
We simply can't wait for Eva the Owlet to launch on Apple TV+ and to welcome kids and families everywhere to join us in the beautiful woodland world of Treetopington!
Trust us, it's going to be a HOOT!
