Book Bag #Launch

We launched BOOK BAG, our book-gifting project, yesterday at Rutland Street NS.

And it was LOUD and COLOURFUL!

Henry Hugglemonster creator Niamh Sharkey's tenure as Irish Children's Laureate, Laureate Na nÓg, is coming to an end and we wanted to celebrate her success. And what better way than to launch a whole new project with Niamh at the forefront?!

Brown Bag Films invested in this project with partners Children's Books Ireland and Walker Books  to help get it off the ground, having great ambitions for it to become a nationwide program.

We were delighted to give a book to every student at Rutland Street National School, the home of our first Oscar-Nominated Short Film, Give Up Yer Aul Sins.

Alongside a book to every student, we stocked the library with new titles and the school will host a Writer and Illustrator in Residence for the next two months.

With more events planned this year - and an information overload coming - we're making every part of the project available to others to emulate. We're hoping this will be the first of many Book Bag Projects!

While we were in Rutland St… we couldn't help but get doodling:

BOOK BAG is a book gifting initiative made possible through collaboration with Children's Books Ireland, Laureate Na nÓg and Walker Books.
