It was Toronto's first official Art Jam in February and the theme was, of course, “Relationships”.

Since February is one of the coldest months here in Toronto, it’s a great time to snuggle up to those you love, family, friends, significant others, pets, whoever it is that inspires love in your life. We asked our artists to dig deep and use their love or loss to fuel creative new works and now we're excited to show off our first batch of Art Jam participants! 

This month's winning submission was voted on by our Toronto studio members and was awarded to *drumroll please*...

3D Animator Elisa Almeida Ucci, for her “Hercules + Pegasus piece.

Elisa: When I read the theme “relationship” a number of heartfelt ideas came to mind. I decided against all of them to pursue what every relationship has, a good, honest disagreement. I had just started playing around with Procreate so this piece was a lot of experimenting and playing around with brushes and colours. I wanted something a little different from the iconic Disney designs and landed on these two, a pink chubby horse with his stressed out, lion wearing rider. Relationships have their ups and downs which makes them all the stronger, so that's why I think Pegasus will catch him…as long as Hercules acknowledges what he did wrong.
