Stay Motivated with Positive Thinking Day Quotes

Today, Thursday, 13th September is Positive Thinking Day!

It's no secret that in the creative industry we all face stressful times, when we feel we are in a rut, lack motivation or spiral into a cycle of negativity. Positive Thinking Day is here to help you take some time out to concentrate on all things positive. We asked our studio to share some of their favourite quotes that help keep them going through the tough times. We hope you'll find they help you too!

Margaret Simone, HR Generalist: Here are a couple of my fave's -

“Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.” ― Albert Einstein

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the the one most responsive to change.” ― Charles Darwin

“Mistakes aren't a necessary evil. They aren't evil at all. They are an inevitable consequence of doing something new.” ― Ed Catmull, Creativity Inc.

Megan Leonard, Designer: Here are some quotes that resonate with me.. by the amazing Brené Brown.

“The only unique contribution that we will ever make in this world will be born of our creativity.”

“What is the greater risk? Letting go of what people think - or letting go of how I feel, what I believe, and who I am?”

“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weaknesses.”

– Brené Brown

Anonymous: There have been dark times for everyone at some point and here's a few that have saved me (from Harry Potter!)

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (by JK Rowling)

“Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.” ― Luna Lovegood, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (by JK Rowling)

And one of my favourites that always inspires the creative in me:

“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (by JK Rowling)

Alexis Platt, Production Manager: These are a few things that I have picked up over the years -

Time is a great leveller…you can be the richest person in the world or the poorest person in the world, either way you'll have 24 hours in a day and it's what you do with those hours that counts.

The more you practice, the luckier you'll get.

“Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.” ― Henry Ford

A positive attitude goes a long way.

Gillian Dunn, Post Production Coordinator: These are a bunch that I have saved on my Pinterest -

Your attitude determines your direction.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure it makes you happy.

Stay positive, work hard, make it happen.

Start each day with a positive thought.

Get up every morning and tell yourself “I can do this!”

Don’t tell people your dreams. Show them.

The only limits in life are the ones you make.

Rory Dungan, Line Producer: This is one of my faves!

“Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.” ― Roald Dahl

Richard Merrigan, CG Supervisor:

“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.”

– Bruce Lee

Natalya McDonald, Accounts:

“Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”

” People in their handlings of affairs often fail when they are about to succeed. If one remains as careful at the end as he was at the beginning, there will be no failure.”

– Lao Tzu

Marion Lawler, Senior Post Production Coordinator:

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never ever have enough.” – Oprah Winfrey

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill

Maylee Hartanto, Lead Animator: These are some quotes that have motivated me so far -

Set the goal, and ENJOY the process.

Your mistakes don't define who you are.

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” – Confucius

“No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else.” – P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman

Andre Kaggwa, Helpdesk Administrator:

“If you think you are too small to make a difference, you haven't spent a night with a mosquito. Greatness comes in all sizes.”

Mikael Fitzgibbon, Junior Modeller: It's probably really corny but as a late starter I found this good to keep me going -

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”

Alex Pilalis, 3D Animator: This is one of the most inspiring and motivating videos I've seen:

Inna Testolini, Rigger: Here are a bunch of ideas that I once compiled a couple of years ago -

Stretch your boundaries.

Throw kindness around like confetti.

Tough times don’t last, tough teams do.

We rise by lifting others.

Ask not for a lighter burden but for broader shoulders.

Starting strong is good. Finishing strong is epic.

If you are not making mistakes, you are not trying hard enough.

Focus on the solution not the problem.

Hold the vision, trust the process.

Pressure makes diamonds.

The best way to have a good idea is to have lots of ideas.

There’s always time for tea.

Leigh Fieldhouse, Episodic Director: I would recommend the book, Mindset - Changing The Way You think To Fulfil Your Potential by Dr. Carol S Dweck.

“Believe in your flyness and you'll conquer your shyness” – Kayne West

Marie Malherbe, Production Coordinator:

“Done is better than perfect.” – Sheryl Sandberg

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world. The unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man” - G. Bernard Shaw

John Kennon, I.T. Manager: Here's a classic -

“It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness; that is life.”

— Jean-Luc Picard

Omid Nejadnik, Senior Previz/Layout Artist: The 'Everything is Awesome' song sequence in The Lego Movie is my favorite sequence ever, and it gives a huge positive energy to me!
