On Thursday, April 27, members of our Toronto Brown Bag Films team had the pleasure of attending Sheridan Animation Industry Day. The first time back in-person after three years, the annual event kicked off in the morning at Sheridan’s Trafalgar campus, located in Oakville, Ontario. Hosted by the Sheridan’s Faculty of Animation, Art & Design, the industry directed showcase brought together students and professionals in the fields of animation, game design, and visual effects and highlighted the amazing work of graduates from Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Animation program and the Computer Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Creature Animation post-graduate certificates.

Attending from our Brown Bag Films Toronto studio was Creative Director Cory Bobiak, Series Director Geri Bertolo, and Animation TD Jason Lin, and from our 9 Story family Sanatan Suryavanshi, Head of Art, Development. Our crew reported that they had a fantastic experience at the full day event, where they had the opportunity to speak with Sheridan’s program faculty, catch up with fellow industry colleagues, and both meet with this year's exceptionally talented graduates and watch their stellar work on the big screen.

Brown Bag Films also had the honour of sponsoring three of Sheridan’s 2023 Academic Awards, which our team then had the esteemed privileged of helping to chose the winners of.

Congratulations to Carson Olesch on their win for Most Promising Director for their film “The Hero,” and to Sasha Devillers who scooped up Best Production Design for “Dad, Where Did You Go,” and finally to Woo Choi for winning Best 2D Character Animation for “The Pest.”

And of course, to all the 2023 award winners, and Sheridan graduates! We wish the class of 2023 the best of luck in all their future endeavors and can’t wait to see what you create next!
