On Saturday, May 27, the 2023 Irish Animation Awards sponsored by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland were held in Galway, celebrating the best in the Irish animation industry with a record year of 53 nominated productions.
We're delighted to announce that our incredibly talented Karma's World directors Bronagh O’Hanlon, Pete McEvoy, and Brian O’Brien, bagged the prestigious award for Best Director of an Animated Series!
Karma's World was nominated in the Best Director of an Animated Series category alongside El Deafo, Odo, Ray Of Sunshine and Transformers BotBots.
Karma’s World, which premiered on Netflix in 2021, is an animated series produced in partnership with 9 Story’s Emmy Award-winning Creative Affairs Group as well as Karma’s World Entertainment, Chris Bridges’s production company, and animated by Brown Bag Films Dublin studio.
The series, created by Alison McDonald and Halcyon Person, follows Karma Grant, an aspiring musical artist and rapper with big talent and an even bigger heart. Smart, resilient, and deeply empathetic, Karma pours her soul into songwriting, channeling her feelings into whip-smart rhymes with passion, courage and her signature brand of humor.
The series launched its fourth season last September, with a slate of new songs and adventures awaiting Karma in Hansberry Heights as she rhymes her way through bigger challenges and shows up for her family, friends and community. All 4 seasons of Karma's World can be streamed worldwide on Netflix.
Bronagh O'Hanlon, Series Director on Karma's World celebrated the win alongside directors Brian O’Brien and Pete McEvoy, as well as members of our Dublin production team.
“Absolutely thrilled with the ‘Best Director of an Animated Series’ win for myself, Brian O’Brien and Pete McEvoy for Karma’s World. There was such a talented crew working on this show from the Dublin, New York & Bali studios making us all look good!”

We're are also thrilled to have sponsored this year's ‘Best Innovation in Animation’ award which went to Flickerpix, Rentinize for their work on Face2Face - Charles & Camilla.
A huge congratulations to Bronagh, Brian and Pete and to our entire Karma's World team and partners, and a big shout out to all of this year's Irish Animation Awards winners and nominees. Incredible to see the breadth of talent across the Irish animation scene!
