How To Train Your Dragon 2 #Review

The team at DreamWorks Animation have excelled themselves yet again with some amazing work on “How to Train Your Dragon 2”!

The movie is helmed once again by Dean DeBlois, who was a co-director on the first movie, and the winning formula of high paced action, dizzying camera work and visual spectacle has not changed.

With 5 years having passed since the events of the first movie, Hiccup and Toothless, along with the rest of the cast, undergo the ageing process while remaining recognisable -  a first class achievement. There are even some gags thrown in about facial hair!

Which brings me to the technical style of the movie - the skin, hair and overall look of textures are so rich and beautifully rendered.

The 3D version is good, not too in your face, excuse the pun, but I think it would look just as good in good old fashioned 2D.

Though not as funny as its predecessor, the sequel retains most of the original character gags and they work well.

They’ve also added a few new characters, Drago being a particular favourite.

Overall you should see this movie for the style and technical work alone, just an all-round classy movie from the DreamWorks team.

The short review from my 10 year old son who accompanied me to the movie - “That was AWESOME” pretty much sums up the experience!
