Into animation? Here's a #toptip from the studio via our Retakes Animator Alex Pilalis - this one's about how important it is to network.

Alex: Go to as many networking events as you can manage. Even if you don’t think your ‘reel’ is ready, or you’re not actively looking for work, it’s good to meet the people in your field, and for them to get to know you, or at the very least, become familiar with seeing your face around.

People tend to be more inviting and willing to help out someone they vaguely know, or have had one or two good conversations with. It can help a lot in the long-run.

The same goes for online networking. Add people to LinkedIn, keep up with Twitter and Facebook etc. Even if you can’t get out and about so much, you can still establish your presence and your work online!
