Screen Skills Ireland are hosting an Introduction to Writing for Children’s Animation In Ireland, a free online event for new entrants from all backgrounds to learn about writing for children’s animation.

Our Development team, VP Development & Production Jennie Stacey and Development Executive Sarah Lonsdale, have been collaborating with Screen Skills Ireland, Animation Skillnet, Screen Skillnet, and Animation Ireland alongside Cartoon Saloon over the past few months to put together this exciting event with the aim of removing barriers of entry to the industry, opening up opportunities for progression, and encouraging a more diverse and inclusive industry culture.

This evening will be an opportunity for a diverse group of newcomers to hear from industry professionals about the realities of writing for childrens animation, and the opportunities available in Ireland today.

The event will consist of two online panels, Panel 1 – The Realities of Writing for Children’s Animation in Ireland, featuring speakers Jody O’Neill, Jason Tammenagi, Kristina Yee and Sally O’Sullivan.

And our very own Director Nicky Phelan, along with Ladybird Lu Head Writer & Creative Producer Shannon George will be participating in Panel 2 – The Creative Opportunities of Writing for Children’s Animation in Ireland, alongside Will Collins, and Nuria Blanco.

The event will take place on Wednesday, 8th December 2021, from 6.30pm to 9.00pm

This event is offered free of charge but please ensure you register via the Animation Skillnet website.

Live closed captions will be available during the event.

Following the event, further details will be provided to attendees about an exciting Diverse Writers opportunity taking place in early 2022.
