This weekend, August 25th - 26th, Toronto will see its local artists gathered at Edge Control Expo 2018, an annual event supporting ongoing education and networking
within the creative community.
Edge Control Expo is a localized Toronto event that aims to bring high end education from the various fields in the entertainment industry to our community by bringing in exceptional industry professionals to come teach what they know.
Organizers Dhenzel Obeng, Zabi Hassan and Suhrab Hassan, founded Edge Control Expo in 2016 as a way to further establish Toronto as a hub for artists and the art industry. Still in it’s humble beginnings but already making a splash, there is truly something for everyone - from lectures by industry veterans, panel discussions, portfolio reviews and did we mention not one, but two parties - it’s shaping up to be an exciting and jam packed weekend!
This year the event takes place at UofT's Isabel Bader Theatre and is sponsored by ArtStation, a platform that offers artists in the entertainment, media and games industry a place to showcase their work.
As for the guest lineup, there is no shortage of talent with artists who have worked on IPs for industry leaders such as Ubisoft, Disney, Lionsgate, Marvel, Audi and Samsung, to name a few.
The event will span over two days with Saturday's line-up featuring speakers Jeff Simpson (Concept artist at Ubisoft), Thomas Scholes (Concept and Design Artists) & Paul Richards (Concept Artist) and Sunday's line-up featuring presentations from Jung Ah Lee (Concept Artist/Illustrator at Blizzard Entertainment), Tim Anderson (Associate Art Director at Ubisoft) and Jama Jurabaev (Senior Concept Artist at LUCASFILM).
