Coming Up: Cartoon Forum 2018

On September 10th the Cartoon Community heads to Toulouse, France for the 29th Cartoon Forum!

A 3 day pitching event that brings together 950 International animation professionals - Broadcasters, Distributors, Investors, Producers, Authors… all with one goal in mind, to find the next big series. Days are long, stakes are high, creativity is limitless and the opportunities are plentiful.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Participants get a taste for projects to be presented throughout the 3 days, during a Croissant & Coffee trailer screening breakfast.  Projects are also assigned a 30-minute time slot - referred to as pitching sessions. Those interested in a particular project can then choose to stop by a session and learn more about the project during its allocated time.

Each 30-minute pitch is another chance to get a preview of new animation projects and establish collaborations that will potentially lead to cartoon magic.

It allows co-productions to be finalised, pre-buys agreed, negotiation of distribution agreements, options discussed on every type of right, and licensing of secondary rights…On average, more than one project out of three presented at Cartoon Forum secures financing and enters into production.

This year, the forum introduced a new speedy round called: Short Pitch Sessions, allowing several projects to be pitched in 10 minutes! Tick Tock

Despite what sounds like a busy few days, there’s always room for fun and the organizers know just how to mix business with pleasure with planned lunches, dinners and a farewell party.

9 Story Distribution and Brown Bag Films will, of course, be in attendance and eager to see what’s new and exciting. It’s an extra special year for 9 Story Distribution, having been nominated earlier this month for Investor/Distributor of the Year in the Cartoon Forum Tributes awards. We are honoured to have made the list!

Check out Cartoon Forum’s User Guide and stay tuned for more coverage during and after the event!
