Every Thursday we're opening the studio doors and answering all of your questions. Technical, industry, fandom or otherwise - drop your question in the comments below - and we'll hop to it. (We're fielding Q's on Facebook, Twitter and G+ too, if that's easier!)
We sensed a theme to some of the questions last week:
@BrownBagFilms Was wondering, do you guys take interns? :) I am doing MA in Animation and I love the work you do!
— Irenia (@IreAlv) February 24, 2014
@BrownBagFilms do you have internships? And what qualifications would be needed to be considered? Thanks!!
— Amanda Lopes (@yolopes_) February 21, 2014
It's something we've been looking into and I've our HR Manager passed this along:
We have taken interns in the past. We will be looking at working with the Colleges this year to try to promote an Internship programme. Details will follow and will be available in the colleges and on the BBF website, Facebook and Twitter pages etc. Outside of Internships we are definitely interested in hearing from grads that are looking to work in Animation!
Hi @BrownBagFilms, How difficult is to get a job for foreign people?I'm a film producer and I would like to apply in Brown Bag Films. Thanks
— Fabián (@fajorela) February 20, 2014
Our team is from all over the world - at last count we had more than 15 different nationalities! We treat all applicants the same – we have loads of people working here both who required work permits and people who don’t. We judge all applicants on merit regardless of the where they are located. We just want talent.
@BrownBagFilms Good morning. Have any of your projects ever started life from an unsolicited script landing in your inbox?
— Philip Edward Jones (@itisPEJ) February 27, 2014
I passed this one over to our Development Producer, Jennie Stacey:
Yes, we have put projects into development that started as great ideas submitted to us; usually a character outline or some art rather than a script. Right now we're so busy working on new projects that we're unable to look at ideas submitted from outside the studio - but that's not always the case, and when we're next looking for new concepts we'll do a shout-out here on LABS!
Laura O'Herlihy asks: Do you guys ever get the Monday blues?
Who doesn't?! Coming in to work and hearing the Henry Hugglemonster theme usually helps clear it pretty fast. (Monday's are never too bad - things gets crazy later in the week, usually around deliveries, so our Thursday/Fridays are always busy!)
@BrownBagFilms Question : If you were a type of monkey, what type would you be? The world needs to know.
— Richard Carrie (@RichardCarrie_) February 27, 2014
Richard… there is only one answer:
That's it for another week - if you have a question pop it into the comments and we'll reply next week! (There's already a few we have to research for you)
