Today's sketches are fanart pieces inspired by the classic novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne as reimagined by Character Designer Finbar Coyle!

Finbar: The pieces here were originally topics from a weekly sketch meetup I run in Brown Bag Manchester with Background artist Kirsten Shiel, called Cake and Doodle! The topics change every two weeks, with myself and Kirsten taking turns picking them, and we meet every Wednesday in a café to sketch and share our work over a coffee and some cake.

I create reference pages for the topics and from there I sketch up lots of rough design ideas and then bring them all into Photoshop and refine them. Here's my reference page for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea:
