This weeks #TopTip comes from Art Director Bronagh O'Hanlon - for character designers:

Set yourself different projects.

For example project 01, Alien boy and his dog. Then design different versions of these characters in different styles (at least 6 styles).

Then try a different idea for example Old pirate and his eager granddaughter, and do the same thing for this.

Then do different style backgrounds for the characters in three different styles.

As an art director I see so many portfolios in one style. It may be an awesome style, but I want to know that no matter what show a potential designer is put on, that they are versatile enough to adopt the style of that show. Or when working on development work, that they are able to develop the style in a few different directions.
