It’s no secret that we’re fans of Irish illustrator Chris Judge’s work – his Lonely Beast and The Great Explorer picture books, not to mention his gorgeous illustration and art. And then came more success in a whole new platform… on screen with The Lonely Beast ABC.

The beast is back!

Much like the previous Lonely Beast flash card app there is one simple mission… this one is to count. Each swipe brings you to a new hand-drawn scene where you follow the Beast through his routine from getting up and making breakfast, right through to having a bath and going to bed.

Each scene has been crammed with playable elements to keep fingers busy animating, creating sounds and playing.  It’s one for younger hands, but the app has a great sense of fun, from birds pooping on the Beast’s head all the way to a Royal Tenenbaum homage (see if you can spot it.)

Our biggest criticism? We want more. This is the first iteration– here’s hoping for more playable elements and numbers to come in future updates!
