Ask Us Anything #AMA

Every Thursday we're opening the studio doors and answering all of your questions. Technical, industry, fandom or otherwise - drop your question in the comments below - and we'll hop to it. (We're fielding Q's on Facebook, Twitter and G+ too, if that's easier!)

Got a question you'd like to ask us?

Question in from Chris Craig from the comments below:

Hows it going? Just wondering what's the best way to get your foot in the door in the industry? I've just finished college in Ballyfermot there this year and I am trying to get experience before heading back to do the degree in the next year or two but there's the whole dilemma of you need experience to work but cant work without experience. Regards :)

Hi Chris! Great question - it's often very difficult to get your foot in the door! It's best to have a very good showreel and portfolio ready to showcase your abilities - as this is the first thing a potential employer will want to see.

You can build up relationships with studios by contacting them for studio tours to get the lay of the land and checking if they offer internships or work experience placements. It's important to note that these types of placements fill up very quickly so best to get in touch early! Make contacts in the industry and join groups if you can on LinkedIn or similar.

When applying for a position make sure you're familiar with the studios work and tailor your portfolio to suit!

We've got lots of advice from our artists on our previous posts in the #TopTips and #AMA sections, so take a look and get in touch if you have any specific questions or need feedback on anything!

Hope that helps!
